Health insurance - who can apply: * The new health insurance bill does not call for the creation of a new government-run health insurance program -- the so-called public option. Instead, it provides for the federal Office of Personnel Management to negotiate with private insurers to provide multi-state health plans on the exchanges. * Health insurance costs will be standardized for all Americans with equal benefits for all. The new health insurance bill will take advantage of a “wholesale” negotiation to lower the cost of the health insurance premiums. * There is not a government plan that is available to everyone, rather, citizens must buy their own health insurance (but under this new plan, they cannot be turned down because of pre-existing conditions). |
